Blogging and writing have been therapeutic for me. This is the main reason I write. Our office deals with aspects of planning daily, while other tasks are outside our scope. Either way, I appreciate the chance to develop my thoughts on paper.
I write to share information on innovative designs from projects I visit or ones we work on. I believe that if we want our communities to thrive with great urban landscapes and public spaces, we should share the best practices.
When I first started blogging, I was serving my first term on the Colorado Springs Urban Renewal Authority (CSURA). There was a project proposed that the board struggled with and eventually voted down. This was rare because it had strong support from the City Council. I felt compelled to write about why I personally opposed the project—it was a way to have a voice.
My classmates from both college and high school don’t know me as a writer. I wasn’t good at it, and it wasn’t enjoyable. But today, I find writing to be a relaxing activity that clears my mind.
Thank you for taking a few minutes to read this. I’ll try to keep this as part of my weekly routine.
