A little over a year ago, many of my fellow interventionists from Colorado Springs Urban Intervention and I participated in Better Block Pikes Peak. (See Additional Photos of Better Block Here: https://urbanlandscapes.design/better-block-pikes-peak-photographs-data-video/). It was an experiment in placemaking and tactical urbanism for our wonderful city. We modeled our experiment after the national Better Block movements made popular in a Dallas suburb in 2010 by Team Better Block.
Although we did not work with Team Better Block, we were grateful of all of the proven techniques that they put forth. They really paved the way toward better placemaking and better cities. Another part of our inspiration came from the work of Mike Lydon and the Street Plans Collaborative. Mike was the author of the book, Tactical Urbanism: Short-term Action for Long-term Change.
